Nucleur Power Flashcards
What is nucleaur power?
Nuclear power is the use of nuclear reactions to produce electricity.
What does nucleuar power run on?
Uranium and Protonium
How does nucleur power run?
The water in the core is heated by nuclear fission and then pumped into tubes inside a heat exchanger. Those tubes heat a separate water source to create steam. The steam then turns an electric generator to produce electricity. The core water cycles back to the reactor to be reheated and the process is repeated.
Advantages of nucleur power
Doesn’t release carbon dioxide meaning it won’t effect climate change
Extremley reliable
Generates a lot of electricity
Disadvanatages of Nucleur Power
Nucleur power plants contain highly radioactive materials
Needs to be decomissioned when done which is very expensive and time consuming.
Generated highly radioactive waste which needs to be stored for 100s of years before safe
