nuclear stress test Flashcards
why do we nuc stress testing
evaluate blood flow to the heart and eval coronary artery blockages
what are the fatty deposits called and where are they located
plaque in the coronary arteries
what happens if the plaque becomes unstable and breaks away from the walls of the coronary artery
thrombosis and complete blockage blocks all blood flow to the heart and causes MI because heart tissue recieves no O2 in blood and DIES
what does an EKG assess
-max ST depression/ elevation
-exercise induced arrhythmias
-# of leads showing ST changes
hemodynamics assess what
-max HR/BP
-total exercise duration
what symptoms are we looking for
-exercise induced angina
-exercise limiting symptoms
-time to onset of angina
dx indications
chest pain, arrhythmias, symptomspr
prognosis indications
-MI risk
-revascularization/ drug therapy
-exercise tolerance/ function
-treatment for arrhytmias
what protocol of the duke treadmill score do we utilize
bruce protocol and modified bruce protocol for elderly
what does the bruce protocol score indicate
the more (-) a score the higher risk and the more (+) score the less at risk
