What is nuclear med?
A
- it is the use of radioactive pharmaceuticals to diagnose and treat a variety of disease
- pharmaceutical is a compound that is already in the body
- patient is radioactive source and the Camera is simply to detect the radiation coming from the patient
- can take as many images without increasing dose to patient

What is an overview of the machine?
A
- scintillation detector with multi-focal focused colimator
- increasing space between patient and defector which decreases image quality

What is a common Nuc med procedure?
A
- bone for oncology, pain and fever
- use of calcium agent to bind to bone
- can tell difference between fracture and mets as scan as soon as injection will show fracture due to high vascularity

What is a cardiac GHPS?
A
- looking at left ventricle ejection
- chemo and RT can affect heart so it can be used to see if fit for treatment
- image combines to form 3D moving image
