How did you identify the needs of the community or target group for your project?
We researchers collect data through survey questionnaires and use a Likert scale to identify the concerns of the community.
Can you provide the objectives of your project?
To increase awareness about the importance of oral health and preventive care; To conduct hands-on personal oral hygiene practices such as brushing twice a day, in the morning and before bed; to clean your tongue; and to drink water. water helps rinse away food particles, bacteria, and acids that can harm your teeth. To encourage individuals to take control of their oral health for improvement and enhancement. Individuals can be empowered to take control of their oral health, make informed decisions for improvement, and enhance their overall well-being through proactive oral hygiene practices.
How did you collaborate with community members or stakeholders to ensure the project’s success?
We will negotiate with Hon. Edwin Micabani and barangay officials for assistance and collaborating with partner agency, the barangay health center. Through these collaborative efforts with stakeholders, the dental health seminar was able to effectively engage the marginalized community, raise awareness about oral health, and empower individuals to take control of their dental well-being for long-term improvement and enhancement.
How do you plan to sustain the initiatives or outcomes of your project?
Through dental seminars, individuals receive valuable information on maintaining good hygiene and preventing oral diseases. By implementing these sustainability strategies, the initiatives and outcomes of the dental health seminar can be effectively sustained and expanded to promote lasting improvements in oral health practices and outcomes within the marginalized community.
What method did you use in your research and to gather the survey?
The researchers used a quantitative method to collect numerical data using a Likert scale. To further understand the community’s situation, the researchers also utilized the descriptive research design.
Why do you focus on dental health instead of medical health?
Medical health is actually important but somehow it so much work to do and we are only students. We researchers want also to focus not only our physical health, mental health, medical health but we should also give importance on dental health. By raising awareness about the importance of oral hygiene and preventive care to avoid dental problems.
Your objectives are reaching the characteristics of SMART? elaborate
- Specific: The goal specifies the objective of organizing dental health seminars to raise awareness about oral health and preventive care. Also conduct hands-on demonstration on dental hygiene practices.
- Measurable: The goal is measurable as it aims to reach a minimum of 30 participants through the seminars.
- Achievable: The goal is achievable, allowing sufficient time to plan and execute the seminars while reaching the targeted number of participants.
- Relevant: The goal is relevant to promoting oral health and preventive care, aligning with the objective of increasing awareness and education in the local community.
- Time-bound: The goal has a specific timeframe of 5 hours (half-day implementation) for completion.
What is unique about your dental health seminar?
Our seminar is not all about giving information; we also have demonstrations to engage participants actively in learning. We also have games for kids and parents. So everyone can enjoy and learn.
Why are your target audiences both kids and parents
Targeting both kids and parents in a dental health seminar offers several benefits and is essential for promoting comprehensive oral health education and preventive care.
10. What are the long-term benefits when you implement the project? Implementing a dental health seminar can lead to a range of long-term benefits for the community. By increasing awareness about the importance of oral health and preventive care, individuals are more likely to adopt and maintain good oral hygiene practices in the long term. This can lead to reduced rates of dental issues such as cavities, gum disease, and tooth decay.
