Some people=more talented than others
Favour a meritocratic system
Education should socialise pupils
What would the new right describe the current education system as?

What is the new right’s solution to the problems within education?
marketization of education
What do the NR believe competition in education will bring?
greater diversity
choice / efficiency in schools
increase school’s ability to meet the needs of pupils, parents, employers/economy
What about state run American education has failed according to Chubb and Moe?
Not created equal opportunity - failed the needs of disadvantaged groups
Fails to give pupils skills needed by economy
Not giving a high quality of education as they are not answerable to paying customers (why priv schools do better)
What do the NR see as the two roles for the state?
Making schools compete with eachother (encouraging improvement) - E.g. Ofsted report, league tables
The school transmits a shared culture - E.g by imposing national curriculum
