  • musical form constructed by layered different patterns over a repeating gong cycle
  • gongs mark endings and important points
  • stratification, (usually 2:1 or 4:1 ratio) layering parts and increasing density
  • slow moving core melody, and elaborated versions that move more quickly
  • interlocking rhythm
