- Wh- words: Who, What, Where, When, Why, How, Whose, Which, Whom
- Wh- ever: Whatever, Whenever, Whoever, Wherever, Whichever, Whomever
- That/If/Whether
How do you form a noun clause?
“Wh- word/Wh- ever/That, If, Whether” + subject + verb
What are some examples of a noun clause with a wh- word?
I know what I need to do.
Everyone wanted to discuss why they had to work on Sunday.
When we need to leave is unclear.
We need to think about how we can raise money for the school (“How” is a special exception).

A noun clause is a dependent clause that functions as a noun

Can a wh- word be the subject?
Yes
Example: Jessica told me who sits here, but I forgot.
Same goes for wh- ever words
How can you know if you’re using a noun clause correctly?
If you were to take a noun clause and replace it with a regular noun or pronoun and it would still make sense
What are some examples of noun clauses with “that/if/whether”?
I heard that Alex has a gambling problem.
I wonder if Max got the job.
It depends on whether the trains are running on time.
