Note taking is when a student records information for studying uses. Notes can be taken from in-class lectures, videos, fiction and non-fiction books, and discussions.

What is the rule of three?
The rule of three is for fiction note-taking. It covers 3 characters, 3 things you learned about the characters, 3 sentences about the setting, 3 events, 3 connections, 3 predictions, and 3 questions.
What is the 3-2-1 rule?
The 3-2-1 rule is for nonfiction note-taking. It stands for 3 new facts, 2 interesting facts, and 1 question.
What is the 5-4-3-2 rule?
It is used for video note-taking. It stands for 5 new facts, 4 new words, 3 questions, and 2 pictures.
What is the 1-2-3-4 rule?
It is used for lectures. You divide your page into four sections - questions, header, summary, and key concepts.
