In 1991, the lead singer of Mayhem “Dead” committed suicide, found by the lead guitarist, Euronymous, who rearranged the body and scene to take pictures, and used Dead’s bones as jewelry. This led to rumors that he ate Dead’s brain.
What happened that changed Black Metal in 1992?
Helvete became the focal point for the Norwegian black metal scene, with Euronymous’ satanic, anti-society, and anti-religion ideology gaining traction amongst other bands and their followers, who became known as the Black Circle. This led to Eight churches in Norway being set alight in 1992.

Count Grishnackh joined Mayhem as a bassist, and then stabbed Euronymous to death in 1993
