-VC attacks intensify + the demoralised ARVN can’t cope with them
-US promised to provide economic + military aid: $1m in armaments, giving the south the worlds 4th largest air force

-Nixon is forced to resign due to his direct involvement + is replaced with Gerald Ford, whose foreign policy ultimately led to the collapse of SV

VN:
-VC escalate their conventional forces when they realised the US weren’t going to intervene
-A VC assault determined that Thieu’s regime was doomed
-Refugees from the north flee to the south hoping to escape communist rule
US:
-The US were startled by the speed of NV success but did nothing to stop it
-Rejected the request for aid

-Thieu resigned as president + fled the country
-SV surrendered to the north + the NV achieved their objective of a reunified VN under communism
-The North’s victory was due to their unwillingness to back down from the war of attrition against the USA
