Near the Alps can get very cold and the Adriatic Sea helps create a more temperate climate
Grape Varieties
Pino Grigio, Corvina, Rodinella, Molinara
French varietals as well like Chardonnay, merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc
Valpolicella Region
Located in Trento
Famous red - Amarone Della Valpolicella (blend that includes Corvina and Corvinone)
For Amarone reds, grapes dry until they lose 40% of their weight, increasing intensity of the wine
Cherry, Cinnamon, Chocolate, Green Peppercorn, almond
Soave/Gambellara Regions
Known for white wines made with the Garganega grape.
Region has powdery, volcanic soils leading to minerals dry whites that are similar to Chablis
Lemon, Green Pear, Almond, White Peach
Pinot Grigio Grape
Most famous regions are Alto Adige and Friuli.
Alto Adige is in the alps and the cooler temps makes them more floral and acidic
Friuli - they will have a more peach and chalky flavor

Prosecco
Mostly found in Veneto
The tank method is used to produce fruity wines.
Some areas that have great quality include Trevino and Colli Asolani
Trento Wines
Trentino is known for sparkling wines ,add with Chardonnay with a rich creamy texture
Grapes are trained onto overhead trellises that help ripen the grapes in these cool alpine valleys

Lambrusco - Famous sparkling red
Many different varieties found in Emilia-Romagna
Delicate rose wines to rich and plummy reds. Then there’s noticeable tannins in others like Lambrusco Grasparossa
