  • Tostig and Hardrada sailed down the northeast from Scotland

Battle of Stamford Bridge

  • HH and TG were celebrating their victory of defeating Edwin and Morcar so were unprepared
  • left their armour 25 km away in their ships
  • the lone Norseman killed 40 men
  • one Anglo Saxon went under the bridge and stabbed the Viking who was acting as a barrier
  • of 300 ships taken, 20 needed to return
  • HH and TG died
