- Tostig and Hardrada sailed down the northeast from Scotland
- had a fleet of 300 ships and 8000 soldiers

Battle of Stamford Bridge
- HH and TG were celebrating their victory of defeating Edwin and Morcar so were unprepared
- left their armour 25 km away in their ships
- the lone Norseman killed 40 men
- one Anglo Saxon went under the bridge and stabbed the Viking who was acting as a barrier
- of 300 ships taken, 20 needed to return
- HH and TG died
