Normals Flashcards
Normal procedures are used by a trained flight crew and assume:
- all systems operate normally
- the full use of all automated features (LNAV, VNAV, autoland, autopilot, and autothrottle).
Normal procedures verify for each phase of flight that:
- the airplane condition is satisfactory
* the flight deck configuration is correct.
Normal procedures also assume coordination with the ground crew before:
- hydraulic system pressurization, or
- flight control surface movement, or
- airplane movement.
The FMC will annunciate the IRS NAV ONLY message when
no GPS and radio update has been used for 10 to 12 minutes, depending on aircraft altitude.
When operating in the IRS NAV ONLY mode, the flight crew
must monitor aircraft position using LOC/VOR/DME raw data and navigate based on that raw data.
The VERIFY POSITION message indicates
a position error between the IRS, radio, and/or FMC positions.
When this message is displayed, the flight crew should
determine the aircraft’s actual position using VOR/DME navaids. A cross check of IRS positions should also be made on the POS REF page of the FMC CDU.
If either the GPS-L INVALID, GPS-R INVALID, IRS NAV ONLY, VERIFY POSITION, or UNABLE REQD NAV PERF-RNP message is displayed in the CDU scratch pad, the flight crew should perform the following procedures as necessary to ensure navigation accuracy.
- Check the PROGRESS page to ensure that radio updating is occurring.
- Determine the actual aircraft position using raw data from the VHF navigation radios and compare that position with the FMC position. (Use the FIX page).

The APU MAINT light indicates that
the oil quantity is low.
The APU may be operated while the
APU MAINT light is illuminated.
