Normal Traffic Pattern Operations Flashcards
When do you complete “approach checklist”?
- Before entering the airport area
- No later than 15 miles from airport
When do you slow to 90 KIAS?
Approx 10 miles form airport
What altitude do you fly a pattern at?
1000 feet AGL or published TPA
When do you complete the “before landing checklist”
- abeam the touchdown point
- when ready to descend out of TPA
What power setting and flap setting is set once descent from TPA is initiated?
- 10 degrees of flaps
- approx. 1500 RPM
- 80 KIAS
What flap setting and airspeed is set on base leg?
20 degrees and 70 KIAS
What flap setting and airspeed is set on final?
30 degrees and 65 KIAS
Once established on final what check is made at what altitude?
GCASH check is made at 300 feet AGL
When is the “stabilized, continuing” or “not stabilized - go around” decision made?
200 feet AGL
When do you maintain 90 KIAS
- Approx 5 miles form airport
- Downwind leg of traffic pattern
What items are accomplished during the rollout?
- Maintain centerline
- Increase crosswind controls as airspeed slows
What is our intended touchdown point/airspeed for a normal landing?
- First third of the runway
- Minimum controllable airspeed (stall horn is on)
Minimum altitude to be stabilized for normal landing?
200 feet AGL
