Nausea and vomiting
Begins from 4-6 weeks of pregnancy
Caused by HCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin hormone), progesterone and estrogen
Management of nausea and vomiting
Get adequate rest and relaxation
Eat small meals throughout the day rather than three large meals
Eat dry foods rather than liquids on waking
Avoid highly spiced foods, foods with a strong order or greasy foods
Heartburn
caused by progesterone relaxing the cardiac sphincter or pressure of growing uterus on stomach from 3rd trimester
Avoid lying flat, fried, spicy, greasy foods
Urinary frequency
caused by estrogen and progesterone leading increased urine output in 1st trimester
Drink plain water throughout the day, kegel exercises which help maintain sphincter muscles around the bladder
Dental care
She may experience bleeding gums and should use a softer toothbrush
