Not use “mass produced”, move away from cheap, throw away jewellery.
Chinese operas
Made many pieces extravagant in scale & size and scale, playful & theatrical.

New jewellery movement
Lots of new, non-traditional materials being experimented with on uni course, tutor brought fishing wire.
Experimented, found could create different jewellery. Specialised.
NP - used wire for whole neckpiece, bubbles
Moved back to HK: not enough space for large materials like aluminium/ equipment
Could use nylon at home so worked with it. Found it was easy to manipulate, knit tightly for robust forms.
NP - individual, hand knitted bubbles, placed on/off body easily.
Felt wire had potential & wanted to discover more.
Only invented in 1935, when got home studio in England, able to discover could be dyed.
Loved that was tactile and warm when worn against skin.
NP - works almost as scarf in terms of warmth because of nylon.
- didn’t dye as colour distract from beautiful form
Not used mass produces, move from cheap, throw away jewellery.
Inspired to hand make each one of her creations - more eco friendly approach.
NP - hand made, aimed @ those who’d appreciate craftsmanship, thought & creativity (it’s a 1 off)
