Nonischemic myocardial disease Flashcards
catecholamine induced cardiomyopathy
takotsubo/broken heart syndrome
ballooning of cardiac apex
arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy
arrhytmogenic right ventricular dysplasia; fibrofatty replacement of ventricular myocytes
may require ICD placement
myocardial noncompation
developmental defect of LV; failure of part of left ventricle to form solid myocardium
hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
AD cardiomyopathy
idiopathic assymmetric septal hypertrophy
IHSS; variant of hypertrophic caridomyopathy»_space; mitral regurg and left atrial enlargement
may cause LV outflow tract obstruction; wall thickness >15 mm and >1.5x size of lateral wall
wall thickness 30 mm is indication for ICD
restrictive cardiomyopathy
small stiff thickened ventricles; dilated atria and IVC
may be due to sarcoidoisis, hemochromatosis, myocardial deposition disease (amyloidosis)
dilated cardiomyopathy
concentric ventricular chamber enlargement; impaired systolic function
lipomatous hypertrophy of interatrial septum
fatty proliferation typically along right heart border
do not mistake for cardiac mass; ddx is liposarcoma
