Ketorolac drug class?
A
NSAID. Proven to have an opioid sparing effect.

What is the opioid sparing effect?
A
Ability to reduce use of opioids, without loss of analgesic effects. Think toradol and opioid combo.

Mech of Action for ketorolac?
A
For NSAIDs, it’s due to inhibition of prostaglandin production. Has anti inflammatory and antipyretic effects.

Adverse effects of NSAIDs?
A
Gastric mucosal injury, upper GI hemorrhage, and renal func impairment. Typically occurs with excessive dosing.

What are the recommended drugs for neuropathic pain?
A
Gabapentin and carbamazepine.
