Noble Gases Flashcards
1
Q
What are Noble Gases?
A
The elements in group 0, on the extreme right of the periodic
table, are called the noble gases.
2
Q
State three properties of Noble gases
A
- Noble gases are unreactive
- All noble gases are colourless, odourless and unreactive
- They are monatomic, which means they exist as individual atoms. Most other gases are diatomic.
3
Q
State three uses of the noble gases
A
- Helium is used for filling balloons and weather balloons as it is less dense than air and does not burn
- Neon, argon and xenon are used in advertising signs
- Argon is used to provide an inert atmosphere for welding
- Argon is also used to fill electric light bulbs as it is inert

Q
State the noble gases
A
Argon, Helium, Neon, Xenon, Krypton, Radon
