Scoliosis Goes Away - functional scoliosis
Scoliosis Stays - structural scoliosis
3) Two Tests:
Amoss Sign
1) Pain and Point to It
2) Patient lying on side and rise to seated unassisted
positive: pain and using upper body strength to assist
3) Two Tests:
Beevor’s Sign
1) Pain and Point to It
2) Patient supine, patient does crunch and leg lift, look at umbilicus and should remain in center
positive: umbilicus moves to opposite side of injury or weakness
3) Two Tests: milgrams test and bilateral leg lowering
Chest Expansion Test
1) Pain and Point to It
2) Patient seated, 4th intercostal space, measure from behind, breathe in and out
normal: expand 1.5” - 3”
abnormal:
Forestier Bowstring
1) Pain and Point to It
2) Patient standing, lateral bend side to side
positive: decreased ROM on one side / muscle spasm, AS, stacking, pain
3) Two Tests: Schepelmann’s and Antalgia Sign
Rib Motion Test
1) Pain and Point
2) Patient is Supine, hands on sternocostal angel, breathe in and out (woman patient moves breasts out of the way)
stuck expiration: elevated rib
stuck inspiration: depressed rib
rib subluxation, muscle strain, pleuritis, fracture, arthritides
3) Two Tests: chest expansion and forestier bowstring
Schepelmann’s Sign
1) Pain and Point
2) Patient seated, arms over head, laterally flex both sides
positive: intercostal pain
concave side: neuralgia
convex side: myalgia or myofascitis
3) Two Tests: forestier’s bowstring and antalgia sign
