Wahlund effect
A
- reduction in heterozygosity in a population due to subpopulation structure
- excess of homozygotes/deficit in heterozygotes in a sample of individuals from a structured population, even when the populations are randomly mating
- consequence: creation of allelic association or linkage disequilibrium between different loci in the total sample of individuals
