Reddish then dark red

Why to avoid unnecessary irrigation or repositioning of the NGT
To prevent leakage from anastomosis
Signs of leakage: FAD
Fever
Abdominal pain
Dyspnea
Indication for gastric lavage
For drainage
Promotes healing of suture line
Prevents distention & pain
What will you do when the tube get clogged
Gently irrigate with low suction
Signs of infection: RSTP
Redness
Swelling
Tenderness
Purulent drainage
Signs of peritonitis
Severe Abdominal rigidity, distention, pain
Fever
Post Op complications
Hemorrhage
Dumping syndrome
Hypotension
