A
- Absolute
- Head trauma/base of skull fracture
- Nasal fracture
- Recent nasal surgery
- Relative
- Oesophageal stricture
- Oesophageal varicies (untreated/recently treated)
- Coagulation abnormalities

How to confirm NG tube is in the right place?
A
- Aspirating sample and checking the acidity (below pH 5.5 - means is in the stomach)
- X-Ray (check if in the right place)

What can you do if a patient tries to pull out a NG tube?
A
- Nasal bridle
- Radiologically guided NG
- Endoscopically guided NG

Confirming NG tube placement on X-ray
A
- Check if NG below hemi-diaphragm
- Check if about 10cm into the stomach and not too far past stomach
