Newtons laws of motion Vocabulary Flashcards
Force
A push or a pull exerted on an object in order to change the motion of the object
Motion
A change in position over time
Net Force
The combination of all the forces acting an on object
Speed
Distance traveled per rate of time
Speed= Distance/time
Velocity
The speed and direction of an object
Acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes over time
Newtons First law
An object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion. unless acted upon by an outside force
Newton Second law
Force -Mass x acceleration
Newtons Third law of motion
For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction
Intertia
The tendency of an object too resist being moved or, if thence is moving, to resist a change in speed or dictation until an outside force acts on the object
Friction
A force the resists motion
Mass
The amount of matter in an object
Gravity
An attractive force their exits between all object that have mass
