Q

Newton’s 1st Law of Motion

A

Q

Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion

A

The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the size of the force applied, & inversely proportional to the mass of the object. Or:

To accelerate, an object must have a force applied to it. The more force, the more the object accelerates. More massive objects require a larger force.

Q

The Equation for the 2nd Law of Motion

A

F = ma
From this equation, we can derive the amount of Force (Newtons - N) applied to an object if we know the mass (kg) & acceleration (m/s) of the object.

Q

Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion

A

Every action has an equal & opposite reaction.

e.g. when a ball hits a bat with xN then the bat will hit the ball with the same amount of force. Forces are interactions between two or more objects. If you interact with an object, that object will interact with you with an equal amount of force. This is why, when you hit a table, you can hurt your hand.
