Newtons laws of motion Flashcards
Force
A push or pull on an object in order to change the motion of an object.
Motion
A change in position overtime.
Net force
The total of all the forces acting on an object.
Speed
Distance traveled per rate of time.
Velocity
The speed and direction of an object.
Acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes over time.
Newtons first law
An object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by a unbalanced force.
Newtons second law
force = mass x acceleration.
Newtons third law
For every action there is a equal but opposite reaction.
Inertia
b The tendency of an object to resist being moved or if the object is moving.
Friction
A force that resist motion.
Mass
The amount of matter in an object.
