newtons laws of motion Flashcards
force
a push or pull exerted on an object in order to change the motion of an object
motion
a change in postion over time.
net force
the combination of all the forces acting on an object
speed
distance traveld per rate of time. speed= distance/time
velocity
the speed and direction of an object
acceleration
the rate at which velocity changes over time.
newtons first law
an object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.
newtons 2 law
force= mass x acceleration
newtins 3rd law
for every action there is an equal but opposite recation
inetia
the tendency of an object to resiest being moved or if the object is moving to resist a change in speed or direction until an outside force acts on the object.
friction
a force that resist motion.
mass
the amount of matter in an object.
gravity
an attractive force that exsitres between all objects that have mass.
