Newtons Laws Of Motion Flashcards
Force
A push or pull exerted on an object in order to change the motion of the object.
Motion
a change in position over time.
net force
The combination of all the acting on an object.
speed
distance traveled per rate of time, speed = distance/time
velocity
The speed and direction of an object.
acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes over time.
newtons first law
An object at rest will remain at rest an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.
newtons second law
force = mass x acceleration
netowns third law
for every action there is an equal but oppiosite reaction.
inertia
The tendecay of an object to resist being moved or, if the object is moving, to resist a change in speed or direction until an outside force acts on the object
friction
a force that resits motion
mass
The amount of matter in an object
gravity
an attractive force that existts between all objects that have mass.
