Newtons Laws of motion Flashcards
force
A push or a pull extended in an object in order to change the motion of the object.
motion
A change in position over time.
net force
The combination of all the forces acting on a object.
speed
distance traveled per rate of time
speed=distance/time
velocity
the speed and directions of an object.
acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes over time.
newtons First Law
An object at rest will remain at rest and a object in motion will remain in motion unless an acted upon by an outside force.
newtons second law
force=mass x acceleration.
newton’s third law
For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction.
inertia
the tendency of an object to resist being moved or if the object is moving to resist a change in speed or direction until an outside force acts on the object.
friction
a force that resists motion.
mass
the amount of matter in an object
gravity
an attractive force that exists between all objects that have mass.
