Newtons Law Flashcards
What is the resultant force
the resultant force is the sum of all of the forces acting on an object
a change in an objects motion is caused by what
a change in an objects motion is caused by the resultant force
if the forces acting on an object is unbalance what does it mean
it means that a resultant force is acting on the object
what is the equation for resultant force
Resultant Force = Mass x Acceleration
according to Newtons 1st Law when will the velocity change
the velocity of an object will only change if a resultant force is acting on the object
If an object is moving and there is no resultant force acting on it what does it mean
it means that the object will continue to move in the same direction and at the same speed
What is Newtons 1st Law
Newton’s 1st Law says that the velocity of an object will only change if a resultant force is acting on it
What is Newtons 2nd Law
Newton’s 2nd Law is defined by the equation
Force = Mass x Acceleration
What is Newtons 3rd Law
Newton’s 3rd Law says that when two objects interact the forces that they exert are equal but opposite
when is the only time where there is no resultant force
when there are balanced forces
E.g) if a resistive force is 1000N AND driving force is 1000N there is no resultant force as it would be 0
