Newton's Laws vocab Flashcards
force
a push or pull exerted on a object in order to change the motion of the object.
`motion
A change in potion over time.
net force
The compination of all the forces acting on an object.
speed
distance traveled per rate of time.
Velocity
the speed and direction of an object.
Acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes overtime.
Newton’s first law
An object at rest will remain at rest an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted apon by an outside force.
Newton’s second law
Force = mass x acceleration
Newton’s third law
For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction.
ineria
The tendency of an object to resist being moved or, if the object is moving, to resist a change in speed or direction until
friction
A force that resist motion.
mass
The amount of matter in an object.
gravity
An attractive force that exists between all object that has mass.
