Newton's Laws of Motion Vocabulary Flashcards
Force
A push or pull exerted on a object in order to change the motion of object.
Motion
A change in position over time.
Net Force
The combination of all forces acting on an object.
Speed
Distance traveled per rate of time.
Speed= distance/time
Volocity
The speed and direction of an object.
Acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes over time.
Newton’s First Law
An object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by outside force.
Newton’s Second Law
Force=mass x acceleration
Newton’s Third Law
For every action there’s an equal but opposite reaction.
Inertia
The tendency of an object to resist being moved or, if the object is moving to resist a change in speed or direction until in outside acts on the object.
Friction
A force that resist motion.
Mass
The amount of matter in an object.
Gravity
An attractive force that exist between all objective that have mass.
