Newton's Laws of Motion Flashcards
Force
A push or pall
speed
Distance traveled per rate of time
velocity
The speed and direction of an object
motion
A change in position over time
acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes over time
Net force
The combination of all forces acting on a object
Newton’s first law
An object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion unless acted upon by an outside force
Newton’s Second law
Force= mass x acceleration
Newton’s Third Law
For every action there is a equal but opposite reaction
inertia
The tendency of an object to resist being moved or, if the object is moving, to resist a change in speed or direction until an outside force acts on the object
friction
A force that resists motion
Mass
The amount of matter in an oject.
Gravity
An attractive Force that exists between all objects that have mass.
