Newton's laws and Forces Flashcards
Newton’s second law
force = Mass x acceleration
Newton’s first Law
An object In motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force and an object in rest stays in rest
Newton’s third law
Force is a push or a pull that acts upon an object as a result of another object. any work done has an opposing and equal force
what are vectors?
The arrows on an FBD that signify the direction of force
what are the 4 types of friction?
Sliding
Rolling
Static
Fluid
What is weight
The mass of an object being effected by the force of gravity
What is normal force?
The contact force exerted on an by a surface on an object
What is tension force
The force applied on a rope or cable by the pull of an object
What is thrust force?
The force applied by propelling an object forward through mechanics
what is Spring force?
Restoring force, When an object returns the force applied in an opposite direction
what is Inertia ?
a push or a pull acting upon an object
what is Net force ?
the overall forces acting on an object
what is equilibrium?
When all forces acted upon an object are balanced
what is work?
When force is acted upon an object
what is Motion?
When an unbalanced force acts upon an object which causes it to move in a certain direction
