Q

Newton’s first law

A

If the resultant force of an objects is 0 it is either stationary and will remain stationary or it is moving and will continue at the its current velocity (yes direction actually matters)

Newton’s second law

F=ma
(resultant force (N)= mass(kg) * acceleration(m/s^2)

Q

Newton’s third law

A

When two objects interact the force they exert on each other is equal and opposite (e.g. I standing on the earth is the earth pulling you towards it with the same strength of you pulling the earth towards you)

Q

difference between speed and velocity

A

speed= distance/time (scalar just magnitude)
velocity= displacement/time(vector so magnitude and direction)

Distance time graph

A

Gradient= speed (curve means draw a tangent because acceleration)
Flat line= stationary
negative gradient= returning to start

Q

Velocity time graph

A

Gradient= acceleration (also draw lines in a curve)
Flat line= constant velocity
negative velocity= either slowing down or returning to origin
Area under line= distance travelled

3rd equation of motion/ also used to calculate braking

DONT NEED TO MEMORISE JUST KNOW WHAT IT DOES

A

v^2-u^2=2as
(((final velocity)^2-(initial velocity)^2)= 2* acceleration* distance)

Q

How to work out resultant force

A

Tip to tail diagram where you draw the arrows exactly as shown in the diagram but where the back end of one of the arrows is pointed by the front end of another (remember to keep side lengths and angles the same) the connect the two open ends and measure to get the resultant force

Its okie if you don’t understand my gobldygoop but if you don’t get it I can explain

Q

When skydiving when are you accelerating the most

A

Your velocity will continue to increase, but your acceleration is fastest at the start as only weight is acting
Velocity will increase at a decreasing rate

Q

What causes air resistance to become greater

A

air resistance increases as velocity increases

17
Q

what happens when forces are balanced

A

falling at a constant velocity

18
Q

Thinking distance

A

Impeded reaction time can result in traveling a larger distance before hitting the breaks
Factors include:
- Drugs/alcohol
- distractions
- tiredness
- speed

19
Q

Braking distance

A

distance travelled after the driver has hit the brake
factors include:
- mass of car/contents
- weather/ road conditions
- condition of the car
- speed
