Newton's Laws Flashcards
Force
A push or a pull is exerted on an object in order to change the motion of the object.
Motion
the action or process of moving or of changing places or position
Net force
the combination of all the forces acting on an object
speed
Distance traveled per rate of time speed = distance/time
Force
A push or a pull is exerted on an object in order to change its motion of the object.
Acceleration
the fate at which velocity changes over time.
Newton’s First Law
AN object at rest will remain at rest and object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.
Newton’s Second Law
Force = mass x acceleration.
Newton’s Third Law
For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction
Inertia
The tendency of an object to resist being moved or, if the object is moving, to resist a change in speed or direction until an outside force acts on the object.
friction
A force that resists motion
Mass
The amount of matter in an object.
Gravity
an attractive force that exists between all abject that has mass.
