Newton Laws of Motion Flashcards
Force
A push or pull exerted on a object in order to change the motion of that object
Motion
A change in position overtime
Net Force
all forces acting on an object
Speed
distance traveled per rate of time
Speed = d/t
Velocity
The speed and direction of an object
Acceleration
The rate at which velocity changes overtime
newtons first law
an object in rest will remain at rest until acted upon an outside force
newtons second law
F = MxA
Newtons third law
for every action there is a equal or opposite reaction
Inertia
the tendacy of an object to resist being moved or, if the object is moving, to resist change in speed or direction until an outside force acts on the object
friction
the force that resist motion
Mass
The amount of matter in an object
Gravity
An attracted force that exists between all objects that have mass
