Q

What is precision?

A

Precision describes the reproducibility of measurements. The closeness of result that have been obtained in exactly the same way.

Q

What is random (indeterminate) error?

A

Data scattered approximetely symmetrically about a mean value. Affects precision - dealth with statistically.

Q

What is systematic (determinate) error?

A

Causes the mean to be displace from the accepted or known value. Several possible sources. In general, all determinations are too high or too low. Affects accuracy.

Q

What is gross error?

A

Occasional, often large and usually very obvious- gross errors give rise to outlier readings. Detectable by carrying out sufficient replicate measurements.
