What is the Masthead?
At the top of the page, the name of newspaper has a masthead, which is also known as a logo.
What is the page furniture?
Everything on the front page that is not a picture or text relating to news stories.
What is the stand first?
The first paragraph of a news story that summarises the whole story. It is usually bold and in a slightly larger font, so it stands out.
What is the Byline?
Name of the article’s author
What is a pull quote?
A quote from the article, usually by the person in the image, is “pulled” out and emphasised.
What is a countertype?
They challenge stereotypes, giving an alternative representation of a previously simplified group or individuals. The presence of countertypes works to evolve the portrayal of misrepresented groups.
