AO1 - state policies undermine traditional nuclear family e.g. welfare benefits to singlehood, divorce easier, legalise same sex
AO2 - almond - state policies encourage change + more diversity (cohabitation, same sex etc)

EVIL TRENDS
AO1 - social changes = evil trend = anti social behaviour in children
AO2 - dennis and erdos - single mums increasing = boys with absent dads = worse life choices = higher unemployment/crime
❌AO3 - brothers, grandparents, uncles = good male rolemodels
❌AO3 - suggests women = incapable of raising boys
NUCLEAR
AO1 - best way to raise kids (expressive/instrumental roles)
AO2 - morgan - nuclear = beneficial for children welfare + nontraditonal = social problems
❌AO3 - ethnocentric (western families), other family types can work in other cultures
CULTURE OF DEPENDENCY
AO1 - generous welfare benefits = harmful = culture of dependency
welfare for single parents = encourage teen pregnancy + unemployment
60% single / 10% couple parents = welfare
❌AO3 - chamber = media creates moral panics about non nuclear fams = justify welfare benefit cuts
❌AO3 - victim blame (especially single mums) some have no choice
NUCLEAR BREAKDOWN
AO1 - underclass created by single parents/breakdown of nuclear
= more advantage of welfare benefits, higher unemployment/crime = generational cycle
state should intervene less = promote individual responsibility

❌AO3 - countries with generous welfare exist and have lower unenployment e.g. sweden
DIVORCE
AO1 - divorce existing = broken families
teen boys = behaviour problems
teen girls = emotional problems
1/8 teens with bad mental health = blame poor home life
❌AO3 - chester - despite decline, nuclear still dominant + most kids raised by 2 parents
❌AO3 - assumes conjugal fam = no issues (poverty, conflict, shell marriage)
