Radical students sympathised with socialist ideas and were seen as a threat.
Counterculture was heavily associated with protests to vietnam war and were seen as un-patriotic.
Fundamental Christians (such as Bill Bright) were concerned about the growing sexuality of the counter culture which went against Christian values.

Size and actions of the federal government should be limited ➡️ political scandals (such as Watergate) had dented peoples confidence in the government, meaning they turned to the ideals of the new right.
