What effect does age have on the media?

A

AO1 - social media suits different groups at different times such as snapchat is more commonly associated with teenagers and facebook associated with mums and adults.
AO2 - iPad kids are being brought up by parents who use the iPads as a way to ‘shut them up’ and have some peace and they are growing up constantly on screens (screenagers). BOYLE: Younger years are primarily associated with the new media.
AO3 - The older generations are more fearful of the new media and won’t have socials/emails/phones etc

CULTURAL PESSIMISTS:
- Negative view on the new media
- Decline in our choice and the quality (streaming)
- Destroying democracy; capital riots and pressure cooker of politics
- TERFs (Trans Exclusional Radical Feminists) - strong feelings about female only spaces etc (“a man is a man and a woman is a woman it’s just common sense” - Rishi Sunak)
- Brianna Ghey murder planned over messenger
- Religious hate spaces (White Church Shooting - man live streamed while he opened fire on a mosque.)

They all have similar characteristics that makes the show flow e.g:
- group of friends
- couples within the friend group
- weird friend
- womanisers
- Weddings/Funerals
- Drunk Episode
- Maybe go to vegas?
All the episodes will end up with similar storylines but could ultimately be rewatched by people for comfort
- REBOOTS - UK and US versions of shows e.g the office
