new hire study guide Flashcards
most common items put on an expense report
travel expenses to and from hitches
if MOC is done before a flight for customer, do you have to do a separate FSO?
yes you do
explain airflow through the engine
air comes in through air inlet and filters where it travels through the compressor section and into the combustion section where it reverse flows and is forced into turbine section to be ignited and sent out the exhaust
where does MGT get its information?
gases passing through the turbine is sensed by means of four thermocouple located between the NG and NP turbine wheels.
what is the electrical load indication if the battery is in a charged condition
28.5 +or- .5 volts
what is not available if you experience a total electrical failure over water
how does fuel get from main tank to forward tank
by two means: a gravity transfer line when the aft cell is above the standpipe. and a pressure transfer line form the forward transfer pumps
Purpose of the bleed air system
bleed control valve is open during starting and idle operation and remains open until a predetermined pressure ratio is obtained. at this pressure ratio, the valve begins to modulate form open to the closed position. normally open during the start cycle and ground idle, modulated during acceleration full operational speed, and remains closed during flight operation speeds. pressure sensing for bleed control valve operation is within the valve.
how does engine anti ice work
Compressor discharge air that has been heated due to compression, flows through the anti ice valve to the compressor front support passages.
how does cabin heat work
2 different types of driveshafts
Main driveshaft aka Kaflex and the tail rotor driveshaft
what info must be entered in aircraft logbook regarding trend check
60% torque
1000 k PA
MGT
OAT
NG
if MOC is required, what would you write in log if there were no discrepancies
Date and aircraft total time, type of inspection and brief description of work performed, signature, cert number and kind of certificate
what is extended over water operations
flight greater than 50 miles off shore
is there a grace period for recurrent training
Yes, 135.301. States recurrent can be done the month before or after and can count for the required month
what colors are on the torque gauge and what do they mean
Green, yellow, red
Green- continuous
Yellow- 5 minute
Red-max 5 min takeoff
MOC requiring autorotation, what conditions and restrictions exist for the flight
power recovery above 500 ft AGL
how big of a passenger can you carry in the front seat if he’s the only passenger
are you able to make a solo flight from offshore with 120 lb valve in cargo compartment?
nada
what documents must be completed for a hazmat flight
shippers declaration and pilot notification
what do you do if you can’t find the hazmat in the quick reference guide? 16.3
call and ask ops
HSAC altitude requirements
inbound- 500
outbound-east 750, west 1250
crossing- 1200 or above
0-179- 750,1750,2750
180-359-1250, 2250
RLC transponder code
4304
135.89 oxygen req
above 10,000 for 30 minutes and above 12,000 always
Who must develop an adverse weather plan?
Lead Pilot
REF: p.1-18
What section of the GOM covers General Flight Operations?
Section 2
Where is the EMI/EFI Flight Test Profile found?
D.O.M. must be contacted for the form. REF: 2.8, p.2-7
When shall the W&B information be entered on the DFL/Load Manifest?
(a) Before takeoff as appropriate to ME or SE aircraft. REF: 2.61,p 2-48
(b) To facilitate situational awareness the pilot may record time, weight &
balance data either immediately on the DFL itself, or on another location (e.g. Trip Sheet from Section 4), then transfer it to the DFL at a safer time but no later than the completion of the last leg of the current flight.
REF: 2.13, p 2-11 NOTE.
