89% victims facing 4 or more incidents are women

2007- forced marriafe civil protection act
2015- serious crime act s76
Still a few issues
only 25% of incidents reported (CPS drop cases, lack of evidence)
underreported (failure to attend court, retraction of evidence)
large amount of legislation
male victims not recognised aswell

not restricted to domestic situations
males can suffer (40% against men)
children can witness it or be abused
elderly subject to neglect, physical, financial and emotional abuse
same sex couples same as heterosexuals
disabled women 3x more likely, men 2x more likely
sex workers are vulnerable
domestic abuse definition
any incident or patterns of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or above who are or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender of sexuality.
