New Flashcards
1
Q
9 step brake check
A
Static leakage Applied leakage Low pressure warning Spring brake pop out Governor cut in/cut out Rate of pressure build up Brake adjustment Parking brake Service brake
2
Q
How can you tell if the intake strainer is clogged?
A
1st: compound gage will decrease or show closer to zero
2nd: signs of cavitation will show
3
Q
Max hose 1-3/4 Standard pressure for foam
A
150ft
4
Q
What more protects against cavitation
A
Pressure control mode
5
Q
Factors that effect nozzle reaction
A
Smooth bore:
Nozzle pressure , diameter of tip
Fog:
Nozzle pressure
GPM
6
Q
When do you do a brake check?
A
Daily, putting a rig in service
7
Q
How do you know you have a static or residual pressure?
A
Insure no lines are flowing, check your compound gauge = static
If lines flowing = residual
8
Q
Describe 1st digit method
A
Obtain hydrant, record static pressure Multiple 1st digit of static by 1,2,3 Open discharge and flow water Record residual pressure Subtract residual from static If pressure drop doesn't exceed 1st line, 3 lines can flow 2nd line, 2 lines can flow 3rd line, 1 line can flow
