what is common source of infection for neutropaenic patients?

A

commensal gut - chemo can give mouth ulcers which can travel down gut, via which commensal bacteria enter blood - in this case no site found
often multiple sources
may not be anything on culture as told to present early so bacteria haven’t grown much yet
