Q

serotonin (inhibitory)

A

associated with mod regulation, attachment, appetite, and sleep
- agonist: own endrogenous agonist
- antagonist: anti- nausea medicine

Q

passamonti et al (2012) - true experiment

A
  • to see what effect reduced serotonin has in the PFC when exposed to threat
  • experimental group consumed a drink leading to reduced serotonin levels, and were placed in an MRI machine and were shown angry, neutral, or sad faces
  • reduced function in the PFC when viewing angry faces (threat). serotonin is an inhibitory neurotransmitter and endrogenous agonist that is linked to aggression because it affects the ability of the PFC of regulating the amygdala
