Neurotransmitter Process Flashcards
Receive info from other neurons and sensory receptors
Dendrites
Receives info from dendrites and if enough stimulation is receiving Ed the message is passed on to the axon
Cell body
Carries neuron’s message to other body cells
Axon
Covers the axon of some neurons to insulate and help speed neural impulses; conductor insulator
Myelin sheath
Form junctions w other cells and release chemicals called neurotransmitters
Terminal buttons
Basic working unit of the cns for sending info to and from the brain, to other neurons, and to muscle or gland cells
Neurons
Substances have a high potential for abuse, have no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the US and have a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervisions
Schedule 1
Have a high potential for abuse, which may lead to sever psych or physical dependence, and have a currently accepted medical use
Schedule 2
Have less potential for abuse and abuse may lead to moderate or low physical dependence or high psych dependence
Schedule 3
Have a low potential for abuse
Schedule 4
Have a low potential for abuse and consists primarily of preparations containing limited quantities of certain narcotics
Schedule 5
