- Head Trauma: ?brain injury or haemorrhage
- Acute Stroke: ?haemorrhage or infarct
- Selected headache: ie. suspected SAH or intracranial mass
- Focal neurological deficit: ie. stroke, tumour
- Post-surgical: ie. hydrocephalus, haemorrhage
- Brain Tumours: first-line
- Assist in Dementia sub-typing

- Minor head trauma
- Primary Idiopathic Generalised Epilepsy
- Diagnosis of Dementia

What are the indications to perform an MRI scan in Neurology?
A
- Demyelination
- CNS tumours: ie. pre-operative assessment, primary brain tumour follow-up
- Neurological compression in the Spine: cauda equina syndrome or disc prolapse in surgical candidates
- TIAs
- Epilepsy
- Paediatric Neurology
- Selected headaches: ie. suspected venous sinus thrombosis in young pts

A
Implanted electronics:
- Cardiac pacemakers, implantable defibrillators (ICDs), cochlear implants
- programmable shunts, insulin pumps
- old aneurysm clips
Relative contra-indications:
- Moveable, metallic implants
- Claustrophobia, pregnancy, tattoos
