Neuropharmacology Flashcards
Neurons and glia
neurons and macroglia (oligodendricites/schwann cells and astrocytes) are from neural ectoderm. Microgliea are from bone marrow myeloid lineage-mesoderm
Dendrites
Receive and integrate synaptic signals, do not contain voltage-gates sodium channels. Calcium instead
Amino acid neurotransmitters
GABA (inotropic allows chloride into the cell) and glycine, inhibitory. Glutamate is stimulatory
Biogenic amines neurotransmitters
Dopamine, Epinephrine, Histamine Serotnin
Other neurotransmitters
Acetylcholine, adenosine, NOx
Peptide neurotransmitters
Enkephalin, dynorphin, POMC, substance P and K
Norepinephrine
Increases cellular activity in Beta, alpha1 and decreases with alpha2
